Can I make my host unavailable when I am offline for a long period of time?

You can use the IP address 127.0.0.1 to make your host inaccessible to other users on the Internet. This is useful if you will be going offline for an extended period of time. If someone else gets assigned your old IP address, your users will not be directed to your expired IP address.

Alternatively, if you have Plus or Enhanced you can my modify your hostname on the DNS Records page to use our Offline Options feature.  If you have your own domain with Plus you can use our parking feature.
