No-IP’s Top Moments of 2014

This has been a big year for No-IP! We saw huge growth in the company, perfected our foosball game and welcomed more than a million new customers. But we did so much more than that!

To celebrate the end of the year we have highlighted some of our top moments. Check them out below!

20  Million Users

This month we reached 20 million users! We could have never achieved such an incredible number without you guys! You have used our services, recommended us to friends and continued to be loyal customers for nearly 15 years! We thank you for helping us get this far!

The Microsoft Takedown

On June 30, Microsoft seized 23 No-IP Domains containing nearly 5 million of No-IP’s Free and Enhanced hostnames, making nearly 2 million website and devices unreachable. They suspected some of our customers were abusing our service for malicious purposes. On July 2, immediately after being contacted by No-IP and its attorneys, Microsoft agreed to contact the domain registries and have them return control of the domains to us. On that day, 22 of the domains were returned to No-IP. On July 3rd, the last domain was returned as well. Service returned to normal for our users within 24 hours of the domains being pointed back at our nameservers. At No-IP, we are firm believers that the Internet should be free and open. We will continue to fight for the rights of our users and our business

Launched Two Charity Events

All of our success has prompted us to work harder for the less fortunate. This year we began two new charity ventures we plan to continue to do annually. The first was a food donation to the Evelyn Mount Community Outreach to help give families a Thanksgiving meal. We donated enough food to feed 70 families! For Christmas we held a toy drive to help Kids Kottage, an organization that temporarily homes children removed from their families. The toy drive was held over a week and brought in more than 100 toys for the charity!

Inc. 5000

In 2014 we were named one of Inc. 5000’s Fastest Growing Private Companies in America! No-IP came in at #3679 with 87% growth over the past 3 years. In order to qualify for the Inc. 500|5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies, businesses must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2009. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2012. The minimum revenue required for 2009 is $100,000; the minimum for 2012 is $2 million.

6 New Employees

This year No-IP expanded its team with 6 new hires! Among the new hires were, a Software Developer, Business Analyst, Marketing Coordinator, Jr. Product Manager, Business Operations Manager and Support Tech. These talented individuals have brought creative ideas and a new life to the office this year and we are happy they chose No-IP as their employer!

Welcoming Dyn’s Free DNS customers

In April Dyn DNS shut down its free Dynamic DNS service. Because of this No-IP was able to bring over many of Dyn’s users to our service. We believe offering a free service can only help a company. That is why we have offered completely free Dynamic DNS to our customers since 1999. We feel lucky to be able to offer our services to Dyn’s customers and appreciate the opportunity to show you why we are the most reliable DNS on the market.

First Security Tradeshow

In November No-IP attended ISC East to launch our newest product! This trade show branded as, “THE security industry trade show”, was a great opportunity for us to network and discuss our new security solution product. Over the course of the two day show, we met with industry professionals and explained how No-IP can be the security solution they need. We plan to attend more shows in 2015 and hope to become a trusted name in the security industry.

New Building

WE’RE MOVING! We have expanded so much this year that our current office is too small for us. This month we purchased a 27,000 square foot building in Reno, where we plan to grow our company for years to come. It is currently being renovated and we hope to move in early next year. The potential for foosball tournaments and games of scrum ball catch are endless.

As always we could have accomplished nothing this year without you! Thank you for choosing No-IP! We hope 2015 is even more successful than 2014!

From all of us at No-IP have a Happy and Healthy New Year!
