At No-IP, we know that you have questions about using our services and we want to help. We asked our industry-leading Support Team to create a list of tips that you may find helpful.  All of the tips are related to setting up and running our Free and Enhanced Dynamic DNS services, check them out below.

No-IP’s Pro Tips:

– Set a reminder to manually update your hostname every 30 days when using No-IP Free. (This will help you avoid having your hostname deleted.) – Speaking of forgetting to update your hostname…Upgrade to Enhanced to avoid having to update your hostname every 30 days. – Create a hostname that you will easily remember. – When creating a password inside your DDNS device, use only letters and numbers, do not use special characters. – Use a device that is already integrated with No-IP. (What is an Integrated Dynamic DNS Device?) – When port forwarding, set the protocol to both TCP and UDP. – Run the No-IP Dynamic Update Client. – Understand that if your router or device does not include N0-IP as an integrated Dynamic DNS provider (see above), you must run our Dynamic Update Client to always keep your hostname active with the correct IP address. – You may not be able to connect from inside your network.  Try connecting from an outside network if you are having issues. (This support guide can help if you are confused.) – When inside your network use your internal IP address (see the previous tip for why). – If you are using a port other than the default port (typically port 80), you need to add a colon :port number to the end of your hostname when trying to access it. For example myhostname.ddns.net:8080
