Changing Hostname Type

You have created a hostname and now need to change its record type to a redirect? This guide will walk you through the steps to change your hostname type.

Step 1

Click Dynamic DNS located on the left hand navigation bar and then click on No-IP Hostnames. Once on the Hostnames page you will see the hostname you created.

Note: The hostname cannot be updated to a new record type by clicking on “Modify”. To change the record type you will need to delete the hostname and recreate it.

Step 2

When viewing your list of hostnames click the “x” icon next to Modify to remove the hostname you want to change. Once the hostname has been removed you can then re-add it by clicking Add Hostname.

Step 3

Recreate the original hostname and then select the appropriate record, in this case “Web Redirect”, and add the appropriate information.

Once the information is added simply click on Add Hostname. Your hostname is now created and ready for use.

This guide will apply to any hostname and any record type that needs to be updated or changed. Simply follow the above steps and change step four to match whatever record type you want to use.
