What is the No-IP Client?
The No-IP client is the latest iteration of our DUC (Dynamic Update Client) software. The No-IP client is designed as an easy, convenient, and accessible solution for remote access. The No-IP client can enable remote access to your devices in one of two ways:
1. Via Dynamic DNS: The No-IP client syncs a dynamic IP address to a static hostname, ensuring a remote access connection isn’t temporary and without the need of an expensive static IP address.
2. Via No-IP Public Tunnels: No-IP tunnels enable remote access to your network securely with minimal setup. The No-IP Client in this configuration creates an outbound connection from your network that your devices can reliably connect through even without setting up port forwarding or dynamic DNS.
Where Can I Download the No-IP Client?
Currently there is no publicly available download as the No-IP Client is still in beta. If you would like to try it out, you will need to reach out to our support team.

Installation Instructions (Windows)
- Download the No-IP Client for your operating system from the No-IP Clients page within your No-IP account.
- Run and install the No-IP Client. Microsoft may display a message that it prevented the application from starting because it is unrecognized. This is simply because it is a brand new application and Microsoft needs time in order to trust it.
In order to bypass this block click More Info, then Run anyway.
- Proceed through the No-IP Client setup wizard and follow the instructions. Finish and launch the client once the installation is complete.
- You should now see a welcome page. From here, click Register. This will take you to our website to finish the configuration. You may be prompted to login to your No-IP account.

- The registration page asks for a client name, and a hostname/s to associate to the client. Click Register when finished.
- For the Client Name, enter anything that may be helpful for you in identifying the client. This is a simple friendly name that won’t be used for any other purpose.
- For the Hostnames, select any amount of hostnames to tie to the client from the dropdown. The selected hostnames will be synced to the IP address of the network the client is running on.

If the hostname has an exclamation ! icon by it, it is already tied to a different No-IP client and will be disassociated from the current client if selected (older versions included). - That’s it! The No-IP client should now be running in the background and updating your selected hostname/s whenever your IP address changes.
Configuring Options
The No-IP Client is managed via your No-IP account dashboard. You can access those settings by logging in then navigating to the No-IP Clients page. To edit a client, click on the arrow on the far right for whichever client you wish to manage. Here you can edit various options such as:
- Client Name (Friendly Name e.g. “Office Windows Computer”, “Home NAS Server”)
- Hostnames – Add or remove hostnames for that specific client.
- Update Interval – How often the client checks to see if your IP address has changed. (In most cases this should be kept as the default option)
- IP Detection Method – Changes the method the DUC uses to check your network’s IP address. If the client is not returning the correct IP address or cannot check for it, try this option.
FAQ
- Do I need to update my old clients?
- No, the older clients will continue to function, but we recommend that update so your client has the latest features and security updates.
- Does the No-IP client have to be running all the time?
- It does, as it needs to be running when your IP address changes which could be at any time.
- Does the No-IP Client work with CGNAT?
- Yes, the No-IP Public Tunnel solution is designed to overcome the problems of CGNAT (CGNAT is a network configuration used by some ISPs that can prevent remote access).
